Yep another article about how you should get a mobile website.. last summer Google announced that they were launching a new algorithm which would favour mobile optimised websites over desktop versions in mobile search. The hype was so big that even some of the large players like the Daily Mail the documentaries website Docur took notice and made a new mobile site in time for the update. The supposed day of the algorithm change came and passed and i am sure that it left a lot of people thinking “eh?” whats actually changes.
There were a number of new sources which made a point that Google was rolling out the new changes “slowly” and despite the fact that your site was not loosing position on mobile search now it would do in the near future; pretty scary stuff. Well i am looking as mobile searches which desktop sites right now and they are pretty much the same. So what does this mean?
Personally i think that the new Google update “brain” in december will bring some of Googles original ideas into force and for the greater good in my opinion. If you do not have a mobile site and you are getting any from of traffic then you are a fool. Theres nothing that pisses me of more than to click on a website and to find that it is really slow and has drop down menus which are almost impossible to use. If your site is not mobile friendly then you are basically telling your visitors to go away and get on a desktop; granted desktop is by far the best way to view the internet but more than 50% of search queries are done on mobile devices. If you are looking for more loyal users then get a mobile site!
